Don't Waste Your Time or Money

This book appears to be a rushed warmed-over edition for a prior version of the software. I purchased this book to learn how to use the important new features of Google SketchUp 7.
Want to learn how to build Dynamic Components? Forget it -- the chapter devoted to DCs is nothing more than a few explanations of the DC dialog boxes -- no real-world help whatsoever.
Ready to dig into Ruby scripting? Don't bring your shovel -- the short Appendix on the topic shows you how to open the Ruby Console -- Whoop-dee-do! No gems to be found there!
Maybe you want to create some great UIs using the Webdialog box? No dialogs here -- the Index doesn't even list the word!
If this book is supposed to be the "Bible" on Google SketchUp then it's missing the New Testament!
Here's a Revelation -- don't waste your time or money on this book!

3D drafting

For a rank beginner (me) "Google Sketchup and Sketchup Pro 7 Bible' is too complex. I oredered "Sketchup 7 For Dummies" and am much better able to work with this. Sketchup is an excellent program and as one who does 2D drafting (HVAC Design) for a living, 3D is the future as there are many times 2D is inadequate to show a contractor what job conditions must be dealt with. I wish there were a local school or an instructor where I could get lessons but I must deal with things as they are and not as I would like them to be.
